Dr. Kenneth Berns congratulates HHMI Early Career Scientist Martin Cohn

Martin Cohn, the first scientist is the state of Florida and one of only 50 in the world to be named a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Early Career Scientist, receives congratulations from UF Genetics Institute director Kenneth Berns (right) recently at the UF Cancer and Genetics Research Complex. A developmental biologist and a member of the UF Genetics Institute, Dr. Cohn became the only Florida scientist to be selected for the competitive HHMI program, placing UF in the company of research institutions such as Stanford University, Harvard University and The Johns Hopkins University. For six years, Cohn will become an HHMI employee, but he will remain here at UF to conduct high-level research.
