Current research interest, in layman’s terms: In general terms, I am working on accurate and efficient indexing, querying, and mining of bioinformatics data. Some of my current research involves searching DNA and protein sequences. Repeat detection, motif finding and multiple alignment. Comparison of protein structures. Finding drug targets in metabolic pathways. Finding cancer markers in CGH data.
Prior Research:I worked on indexing and querying of sequence databases, particularly time-series data and nucleotide sequences.
Education: Ph.D. at UCSB.
When I'm not at work, I am: At home or at the gym.
The best thing that I've done lately that no one knows about: I built a swing set for my son.
Last non-work related book: Angels and Demons by Dan Brown.
